Job summary

Globex Corporation is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Canfield, OH team. Work on heavy industrial buildings, foundations, crane runway systems, fall protection, and modifications to existing structures.

From site investigation through detailed design, you’ll contribute to technically challenging projects with direct client interaction and field verification, leveraging AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, and relevant codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.
• Minimum of five years of civil/structural engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of structural steel and reinforced-concrete design.
• Ability to read, interpret, and develop engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience with structural-analysis software such as STAAD.Pro.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including AISC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, OSHA, ANSI/ASSP Z359, CMAA, relevant AIST technical reports, and applicable local building codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage assigned responsibilities within established project schedules and budgets.
• Ability to communicate directly with clients regarding project requirements, status, and deliverables.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client facilities as project needs require.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil and structural engineering analysis and design for heavy industrial facilities.
• Design foundations for industrial equipment, machinery, and supporting structures.
• Analyze and design structural steel systems, mill buildings, platforms, access structures, and miscellaneous industrial structures.
• Evaluate existing structures and develop repair, reinforcement, and modification designs.
• Analyze and design crane runway systems, including load-capacity evaluations and structural upgrades.
• Develop engineered fall protection and personnel-access solutions in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements.
• Visit client facilities to gather field information, take measurements, assess existing conditions, and participate in project meetings.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with designers, engineers from other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
• Review project scopes, design criteria, applicable codes, schedules, and required deliverables.
• Provide technical support throughout project execution.
