Job summary

Patriot Rail-affiliated employer is seeking a skilled mechanic to inspect, service, and repair company-owned heavy equipment and fleet vehicles in both maintenance shop and field environments. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, quality, and client-focused service.

Candidates should have 2 years of verifiable heavy equipment experience, stick welding skills, and familiarity with roadway maintenance gear; FRA knowledge and a valid CDL are preferred. Extensive travel is required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of verifiable mechanical work experience on heavy equipment.
• Stick welding experience required.
• Familiarity with Roadway Maintenance Equipment (Tampers, Regulators, Tie Handlers, Tie Inserters, Speed Swings, Backhoes).
• Knowledgeable of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements for Railroad Maintenance Machines (RMM).
• Minimum of a High School diploma/GED; 18 years of age or older; Valid Driver's License; Class A CDL strongly preferred; no driving violations involving alcohol or drugs in past 3 years.
• Ability to interpret and understand mechanical schematics.
• Availability to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of roadway equipment and vehicle fleets as required.
• Spotting and pulling of railcars with train crews.
• Maintain all equipment and keep in good working order.
• Work safely and efficiently.
• Complete work as directed by supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs performed.
• Additional duties as assigned.
