Job summary

Verisma is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our healthcare technology team, focusing on Azure-based data infrastructure, interoperability, and EHR data exchange standards (FHIR, C-CDA, HL7). You will design, build, and optimize data pipelines, databases, and BI solutions while guiding a small team and ensuring HIPAA/HITRUST compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years in data engineering or related roles.
• Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and REST API development (FastAPI/Flask).
• Experience with Azure data services and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Knowledge of Power BI development, DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Understanding of HIPAA/HITRUST compliance and healthcare data governance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data architectures on Azure to support BI and analytics.
• Build and maintain data pipelines with Azure Data Factory and Synapse.
• Develop databases across Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, CosmosDB; optimize storage.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes and data transformation logic.
• Ensure data quality, security, and HIPAA/HITRUST compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Review BI designs including Power BI semantic models and dashboards.
