Job summary

University of Texas at Austin's Space and Geophysics Laboratory seeks a hardware systems architect to lead the design of mission-critical hardware systems and to oversee ongoing evolution and updates. You will guide requirements, decompose systems into actionable work units, and advise stakeholders through the life cycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, applied science, or engineering.
  • Three years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Experience integrating hardware systems into racks, RF distribution/switching, or FPGA/digitizer-based data acquisition.
  • Experience designing hardware systems for fault tolerance and high availability across multiple nodes/sites.
  • Experience designing/maintaining hardware APIs and interfaces (register maps, memory-mapped or streaming interfaces).
  • Ability to design, develop, evaluate and support large, complex systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit system scope and requirements from stakeholders for designs.
  • Lead hardware systems architecture and design, managing ongoing evolution/updates.
  • Communicate work processes, products, and results to stakeholders.
