Job summary

Amazon’s Material Handling Engineering team is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to define, design, and deliver the next‑generation material handling equipment across our global distribution network. You will work on mechanical, electrical, and control solutions, collaborating with operations and launch teams to ensure successful product delivery.

You will build prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze results to validate performance, safety, and reliability, while authoring specifications

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Prototyping and implementation experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Ansys FEA tools.
• Design experience for high-volume mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate hardware solutions for next‑generation systems.
• Translate business problems into technical requirements and solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to ensure successful product delivery.
• Lead design‑for‑manufacturing, assembly, installation, and maintenance.
• Evaluate and integrate OEM hardware solutions; lead in‑house design when needed.
• Build prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze results for performance, safety, reliability.
• Author technical specifications, design documents, and test plans.
• Champion data‑driven decision making with documented trade‑offs.
• Manage risk with proactive identification and mitigation strategies.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in automation, robotics, and industrial equipment.
