Job summary

Cisco’s Silicon One team in Milpitas seeks a Lead Hardware Board Design Engineer to define architecture and lead major hardware initiatives. You will work with a broad set of engineering disciplines to deliver high‑performance networking products.

Responsibilities include guiding design from concept to production, solving complex SI/PI and thermal challenges, and mentoring engineers while partnering with suppliers to optimize product execution.

Qualifications

• Experience with hardware board design and system-level development.
• Experience taking board designs from concept through production, including schematics generation and layouts.
• Hands-on use of lab equipment for hardware validation (scopes, analyzers).
• Experience with Cadence Concept and Allegro.

Responsibilities

• Define board-level architecture, technology choices, power-delivery strategy, and design direction for complex networking products.
• Lead hardware initiatives from requirements to manufacturing release.
• Solve signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and manufacturing challenges.
• Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-functional investigations.
• Mentor engineers and improve hardware delivery processes.
• Establish practical design methods, constraints, verification strategies, and quality improvements.
• Partner with silicon vendors, PCB fabricators, contract manufacturers, and other suppliers on tradeoffs.
• Communicate risks, alternatives, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Own the design and validation of a sub-system.
• Ensure designs meet functional specifications.
• Contribute to product-line technology roadmaps.
