Job summary

Montessori Learning Community of Asheville Inc in Asheville, NC seeks a Montessori-credentialed 3-6 Guide to join our team. Lead Guides collaborate with a co-teacher to create a prepared environment and nurture each child's development.

You will communicate with families regularly, record observations, and participate in outdoor lessons. The classroom serves 18 students in mixed age 3-6, with a second Lead Guide and an Assistant; hours are 40 per week, 7:30–4:00.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Montessori-credentialed 3-6 Guide to join our team.

Lead Guides work in teams with another co-teacher in which they collaborate on creating a prepared environment for their children's optimal development. They communicate with families regularly and take careful observations with appropriate record keeping to ensure a strong understanding of each child's individual needs and interests. Lead Guides are offered 40 hours per week, with start and end times variable based on personal preference in the range of 7:30-4:00 each day.

Primary classrooms are mixed age groups of children 3-6 years old. This classroom holds 18 students and is staffed with one other Lead Guide as well as an Assistant. A good amount of each day is spent outside so staff should be prepared to enjoy the elements, and know how to get creative in taking their lessons out onto the playground.

We take pride in our ability to adapt our Montessori practice to the environments in which we reside. We collectively work to foster our school community, while also maintaining our individuality and allowing our classroom dynamics to be cultivated by the Guides and children within.

Our ideal candidate would be Montessori certified through a MACTE accredited program. We would be willing to consider an applicant with NAMC credential, and/or someone with experience in a Montessori environment or other early childhood environments.
