Job summary

Intuitive, a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery, seeks a senior software engineer to lead a small team developing the GUI for the da Vinci product line. You will craft robust embedded interfaces using Qt and C/C++, guiding prototypes through production with strong design standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with designers, systems engineering, and platform teams to push 2D/3D interfaces forward and explore new UI technologies, including 3D graphics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 10 years industry experience developing and supporting digital interfaces
• Fluent in object-oriented programming using modern C/C++
• Experience with GUI development frameworks and Qt
• Demonstrated experience leading complex and highly collaborative user interface design and development for 2D and 3D user interface
• Demonstrated experience in multiple phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, and maintenance
• Experience or interest in leading, mentoring, and managing a team of talented developers
• Experience in embedded software development
• Experience with 3D graphics frameworks (OpenGL, Vulkan, etc.)
• Passionate about delivering the best possible experience to the user

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of SW engineers to develop world-class digital interfaces.
• Develop simple and elegant interfaces for the da Vinci product line, using Qt and other tools in an embedded C/C++ environment.
• Maintain superior development standards from prototypes through production and implement the visual language of the product.
• Collaborate with interaction and visual designers to produce beautiful and functional interfaces.
• Contribute to system and software architecture and work with other members of the engineering team to define the architecture and select the tools used for system graphical interfaces.
• Work with platform software, mechanical and electrical engineers to explore new user interface technologies.
• Rapidly iterate on prototypes of those technologies to assess feasibility and value.
