Job summary

Wee Friends Child Care Center II in Commerce Township, MI is seeking a Lead GSRP Teacher to provide high-quality early childhood education under Michigan's Great Start Readiness Program.

The role focuses on delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum, conducting assessments, and partnering with families. Strong state guidelines knowledge and a teaching credential are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a valid CDA or an Associate degree in Early Childhood.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate or ability to obtain one preferred.
• Experience in a GSRP, Head Start, or preschool classroom preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate GSRP curriculum aligned with Michigan's Early Childhood Standards of Quality
• Conduct child assessments and maintain accurate developmental records using approved tools
• Build and maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
• Collaborate with families through regular communication, home visits, and parent-teacher conferences
• Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom aides
• Participate in required GSRP professional development, training, and program evaluations
• Coordinate with support staff, administrators, and community partners to meet the needs of each child

Requirements:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate or ability to obtain one preferred
• Prior experience in a GSRP, Head Start, or preschool classroom setting strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Michigan's Great Start Readiness Program guidelines and requirements
• Experience with child assessment tools such as Teaching Strategies GOLD
• Strong communication and family engagement skills
• Ability to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements
