Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is seeking a Lead Groundsworker to oversee routine landscaping tasks, installations, and restoration projects across the campus. The role requires horticultural knowledge and the ability to coordinate with contractors while maintaining high standards for the grounds.

The position operates within the FM Grounds department, offers a 1.0 time-base (40 hours/week), and carries a CSU salary range with strong benefits.

Qualifications

Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of grounds maintenance experience.
Knowledge of planting, cultivating and maintaining flowers and shrubs.
Ability to read and write at a level sufficient for satisfactory job performance.

Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, assign and supervise routine maintenance function. Has through knowledge of tools, equipment related to the trade. Basic computer skills, ability to send and read email, operate programs as trained.
Maintains, installs and develops new planting sites or restoration of existing landscaping. Supports campus events and activities. Schedules irrigation controllers and coordinates with outside contractors/vendors.
