Job summary

SSC Services for Education is hiring a full-time Grounds Lead at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. The role leads a small grounds team, trains staff, and performs skilled groundskeeping tasks across lawns, trees, shrubs, and color displays.

Salary is $19.00 per hour with full-time schedule; 100% on-site work at USF and other school district locations. Benefits packages and same-day pay are offered; opportunity for growth within SSC and Compass Group.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a team leader in grounds management.
• Ability to operate grounds-related equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 25 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Leads a small team in grounds management; trains, assigns, coordinates and reviews work.
• Performs ornamental landscape tasks including lawns, trees, shrubs and color displays.
• Performs weed abatement and other grounds-related functions.
• Oversees and maintains planting, trimming, pruning, fertilizing and irrigation.
• Operates groundskeeping power equipment as necessary.
• Coordinates and assists with trash and debris clearance.
• Maintains parking lots, walks, driveways, fences and play areas.
• Assists with weekly tool, equipment and vehicle maintenance reports.
• Deploys for emergency response to inclement weather.
• Maintains professional communication with team leader, supervisor and the public.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
