Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Has knowledge of and can demonstrate advanced grounds maintenance skills.
  • Program sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to harvest and comprehend soil samples.
  • Knowledge of turf management.
  • Ability to install, repair, replace or troubleshoot irrigation systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blue prints.
  • Ability to determine and set grade pertaining to construction projects.
  • Knowledge of sports fields and required maintenance during sports seasons.
  • Obtain and maintain a Pesticide Applicator License and perform job duties associated with license.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize time well (self-starter).
  • Physically able to do required work which could include some heavy and sustained lifting, squatting, bending, stooping, carrying, possible climbing of ladders, and other functions that are physically difficult and demanding.
  • Must have valid Washington State Driver's License with good driving record, which will be confirmed by Driver Abstract.
  • Must be eligible and able, while provided training, to aquire a Class B CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements.
  • Able to get along with others (students, staff, parents) and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write in English, and follow directions/instructions and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to design and implement an equipment maintenance program to maximize longevity of District property.
  • Demonstrated ability to present a positive image for the District and willing to follow District policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be a self-starter and self-disciplined.

Responsibilities

  • Accomplish all tasks in a professional manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility and report needed repairs in work order system.
  • Set up for special programs.
  • Make repairs as needed.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance as needed: i.e. mowing, bleacher repair, painting, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with students, teachers and administrators.
  • Possess basic operational knowledge of and ability to operate equipment (excavators, tractors, mowers, power tools, forklift, etc...).
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor pertaining to job classification.
