Job summary

Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL seeks a skilled landscapes technician to lead grounds crews and perform mowing, shrubbery and tree maintenance, and related facilities tasks.

You will operate district vehicles, maintain equipment, and ensure safe, clean, and efficient grounds across school properties. A high school diploma or GED with 3+ years of landscaping experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; plus three years of progressively skilled landscaping experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Ability to fulfill physical and dexterity requirements of grounds, mowing, and tree trimming work.
• Equivalent education, training, and experience may substitute for formal education.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS.
• Leads work crews in landscape projects and tasks for school district properties.
• Performs grounds maintenance: cutting, mowing, weed-eating, edging, blowing, planting foliage and mulching.
• Operates OCPS Grounds’ vehicles with a trailer.
• Operates various tools and equipment: saws, sprayers, air compressors, mowers, blowers, hedge trimmers.
• Maintains materials and supplies usage records for district inventory.
• Addresses safety concerns and ensures clean, orderly, environmentally safe conditions.
