Job summary

Jackie Robinson Training Complex is seeking a Manager, Grounds to oversee the maintenance of all sports fields, practice areas, indoor and outdoor training surfaces, landscaped areas, and other common spaces across an 80-acre campus.

The role leads daily grounds operations, supervises full-time and part-time staff, and coordinates with Operations, Athletics, and Event Planning to ensure safe, playable, and event-ready facilities for year-round programs and MLB-related events.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, plant and soil science, sports field management, or related discipline preferred
• Minimum five years of experience in athletic field/sports turf or equivalent, including supervisory role
• Experience maintaining baseball/softball surfaces; knowledge of warm-season turf, irrigation, drainage, fertilization, pest management, landscaping
• CSFM certification or equivalent experience at high-use facility preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead daily grounds operations and create annual/seasonal work plans
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, coach, and evaluate grounds staff
• Supervise facility mechanics and ensure maintenance of golf-cart fleet and equipment
• Coordinate with Operations, Athletics, Event Planning, and leadership for facility prep and events
• Direct field preparation and recovery for practices, games, camps, andMLB programs
• Inspect fields for playability and safety; coordinate configurations and timelines
• Oversee turf, landscape, irrigation, drainage, and weather-related maintenance
