Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Ground Software & Systems Manager to lead SSL’s mission operations software and ground systems. You will oversee the Berkeley Ground Station and drive real-time data flows between hardware, software, and external networks.

Applicants should have expert-level system-architecture skills and experience with containers, virtualization, and mission-critical uptime.

Qualifications

• Expert-level system-architect knowledge of real-time mission operations software.
• Proven leadership resolving anomalies at software-hardware interfaces.
• Experience leading operations with high uptime requirements.
• Experience with IT infrastructure management including containers, virtualization, cloud vs on-prem, and failover.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise technical staff and manage deliverables.
• Advanced degree in related area or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hardware and software linking the Mission Operations Center to global ground networks.
• Supervise the Berkeley Ground Station facility (hardware and software).
• Advanced Software Programming (C, C++, Python).
• Develop code for SSL tools and integrate with external tools.
• Oversee two-way encryption with space assets.
• Design and evaluate software and supporting hardware for mission-wide impact.
• Support NASA reviews and meetings; travel as needed.
