Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Greenhouse Manager in Walkerton, IN to lead key production initiatives, oversee plant production development, health, and quality, and coordinate scheduling with the plug production manager to ensure exceptional crop quality.

This role emphasizes efficiency, team safety, mentorship of a high‑performing crew, and driving capacity expansion across one of the region’s most respected greenhouse operations.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• 3+ years as a Head Grower or 5+ years as an Assistant Grower in a large commercial greenhouse.
• 3+ years of direct leadership experience.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong passion for plants, quality, and innovation.
• Proven leadership and team-building skills.
• Ability to set priorities, work independently, and meet goals with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all stages of plant production to ensure high-quality, on time crops.
• Manage environmental controls, including air/soil temperature, ventilation, irrigation, humidity, and fertility.
• Receive and care for young plant liners.
• Monitor plant health daily and make timely adjustments to maintain optimal growth.
• Conduct daily insects and disease scouting to minimize crop loss.
• Strategically coordinate with plug production managers for crop scheduling, sowing, planting, and moving.
• Ensure all greenhouse facilities and equipment operate safely and efficiently.
• Act as a resource and mentor to develop team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment while leading by example through strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Drive initiatives and implement strategies that expand production capacity, improve output, and enable long-term growth.
