Job summary

Claiborne Hauling, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Grading Superintendent to support daily grading and site development operations in Knoxville, TN. You will work with the Grading Foreman to coordinate field activities, schedules, quality, and safety across earthmoving tasks.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong knowledge of grading techniques, and experience operating dozers, excavators, loaders, and motor graders. A commitment to safety and reliable attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grading, excavation, earthwork, or site development.
• Prior supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of grading techniques, elevations, drainage, and site preparation.
• Experience operating heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, loaders, and motor graders.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
• Familiarity with GPS grading systems and laser equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily grading, excavation, and site preparation activities.
• Supervise and coordinate field crews, equipment operators, and laborers.
• Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and grading specifications.
• Oversee site preparation, earthmoving, drainage, and final grading operations.
• Coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower to maximize productivity.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Identify and resolve field issues to minimize delays and maintain workflow.
• Communicate project updates, staffing needs, and operational concerns to the Grading Superintendent.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, equipment usage records, and project documentation.
