Job summary

Lambda Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for Fleet Engineering to lead a distributed team responsible for production systems infrastructure, HPC deployments, fleet reliability, and automation.

The role offers cross-functional collaboration with hardware, software, and data center teams, with executive visibility and impact on GPU capacity. This position requires presence in SF, San Jose, or Bellevue four days per week, with Tuesday as the designated work-from-home day.

Qualifications

• 3+ years leading or managing engineers in AI/ML infrastructure or large-scale compute environments.
• Owned production systems with real SLAs and ability to balance uptime with long-term improvements.
• Proficient in Linux; capable of debugging across OS, hardware, and networking layers.
• Can lead technical design on medium-to-large efforts with clear docs and cross-team alignment.
• Strong at meeting deadlines, planning, and negotiating timelines when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a distributed team responsible for deployment and operation of production systems infrastructure.
• Work cross-functionally to deliver projects and deployments on time with stakeholder alignment.
• Identify efficiency gains in tools, processes, and automation used across the organization.
• Provide stakeholders with clear visibility into project progress, risks, and outcomes.
• Participate in qualification efforts for new technologies entering production deployments.
• Manage staff allocation, project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, mentor team members, and support career development.
• Contribute to reliability through Incident Management and Review programs.
