Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Financial Reporting Team within the City Controller's Office. You will prepare sections of the ACFR, SEFA and SESA, and lead components of audits.

You will interpret GASB statements, train staff, and ensure accurate reporting across departments. This role offers opportunities to influence city-wide accounting practices, manage deadlines, and collaborate with multiple city departments to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 30 hours of Accounting coursework.
• Three (3) years’ experience in Accounting.
• Master’s degree in Accounting or CPA candidate eligibility will substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide training on finance and accounting issues to City departments.
• Prepare detailed journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for ACFR and related reports.
• Primary point of contact for the annual financial audit and coordination with external auditors.
