Job summary

Forest Hills Country Club in Clarkson Valley (Chesterfield area) seeks a Lead Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead daily maintenance, supervise crews, and support agronomy goals. This role collaborates with the Director of Agronomy on planning, budgeting, and improving course conditions.

The ideal candidate has turfgrass management education, 3+ years of leadership in golf course maintenance, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or related field.
• Three or more years of golf course maintenance experience with demonstrated leadership.
• Knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and golf course equipment.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to obtain or maintain a state pesticide applicator license.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily golf course maintenance operations and crew assignments.
• Assist the Director of Agronomy with planning, scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance activities.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Monitor turfgrass health and assist with fertility, irrigation, and IPM programs.
• Assist with irrigation system scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Ensure the course is prepared for daily play, tournaments, outings, and events.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment as needed.
• Assist with construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and regulatory compliance.
• Work with the Director of Agronomy to develop annual operating and capital budgets.
