Golf Club of Houston is seeking a Director of Agronomy to lead maintenance for 36 holes. This role drives agronomic planning, budget control, and compliance with safety standards while coordinating with golf operations.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience at a multi-course facility, a turf management credential, and advance computer skills for financial reporting. This on-site position offers growth within a premier Texas club.

Qualifications

• Experience managing and maintaining warm-season grasses in Texas or similar climate.
• Experience recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
• Knowledge of safety training, OSHA guidelines, and safe working conditions.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the care and maintenance of the 36-hole property.
• Provides detailed annual agronomic plan for 36 holes of golf & club grounds.
• Manages water usage, tracking, and reporting.
• Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance team members; conducts evaluations and progressive discipline.
• Provides technical, operational and safety training for team members to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses (payroll, supplies, chemicals, fertilizers).
• Creates a monthly operating budget and plan for golf course maintenance.
• Maintains records and completes required reporting; orders parts, supplies and equipment.
• Schedules maintenance around daily play and outings to maximize efficiency.
