Qualifications

• Sufficient education to meet knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• No specific education requirements; many possess a bachelor’s degree in sports science, exercise, kinesiology, fitness, physical education, or physiology.
• CPR training or equivalent required by school/state.
• Must have excellent communication skills to inspire players and work with families.
• Meets all diocesan employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of volleyball skills, techniques, and rules to help athletes reach potential.
• Develop positive team spirit and morale.
• Display sound methods to teach skills and techniques.
• Maintain discipline in a firm and friendly manner.
• Conduct well-planned practice sessions.
• Assist with issuing, inventorying, and cleaning equipment.
• Work with community organizations to foster feeder programs.
• Plan and implement activities to develop feeder programs within school and parishes.
• Assist athletic director with recruiting qualified coaches for the program.
• Help athletic director evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the program.
• Establish and maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, and the community.
• Implement the Coaching Philosophy of Bishop McDevitt in the program.
• Implement school and Diocesan Athletic Philosophy and program of Christian formation.
