Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University seeks a Research Professor to lead and contribute to greenhouse gas measurements and modeling. The successful candidate will guide both field observations and numerical analyses across multiple systems, including oil and gas, agriculture, cities, and ecosystems.

Qualifications

• PhD in atmospheric science or a related field.
• Ten or more years of experience deploying and maintaining ground-based GHG observational systems.
• Nationally-recognized expertise with instrument calibration and field deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the group responsible for setup, operation and maintenance of ground-based GHG observing systems.
• Evaluate networks of GHG measurements.
• Evaluate surface-atmosphere exchange of GHGs using budgets and inversions.
• Lead and contribute to publications using these measurement systems.
• Serve as lead investigator for funded research efforts related to these topics.
• Advise or co-advise graduate and undergraduate researchers.
