Job summary

Clemson University in Blackville, SC is seeking a Forages Field Technician to join a USDA-funded project evaluating forage-livestock systems through soil and greenhouse gas data collection. You will operate a LICOR multi-chamber system, assist with field plots, collect forage and soil samples, perform basic data entry, and travel within South Carolina to collaborate with producers and researchers.

The position requires ability to work independently, follow protocols, and communicate results

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or related field.
• Directly related work experience may substitute the degree.
• Willingness to learn and follow protocols, safety rules and IACUC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead soil greenhouse gas measurements using LICOR and smart-chambers.
• Prepare, plant, cultivate and harvest crops for livestock feed; maintain fencing.
• Collect forage, soil samples; data entry and initial processing.
• Support data collection, organize workshops and educational activities.
• Assist with field equipment transport, maintenance and storage.
