Job summary

RRC Power and Energy, headquartered in Round Rock, TX, seeks a Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to lead subsurface investigations and provide design recommendations for energy projects. The role includes overseeing fieldwork, laboratory testing, and advanced soil-structure analyses.

You will mentor junior staff and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on wind, solar, and other energy developments. A TX PE license or ability to obtain within three months and 3–5 years of relevant experience are

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred or ability to obtain in TX within 3 months
• 3–5 years of geotechnical experience in energy projects is expected
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering a plus
• Active NCEES Record a plus
• Strong analytical and communication skills; soil mechanics expertise
• Experience with site investigations, laboratory testing, and foundation design
• Experience with pile drivability and dynamic testing (CAPWAP etc) a plus
• Experience leading large geotechnical projects and mentoring staff

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts for utility-scale wind and solar projects
• Oversee subsurface investigations and lab testing programs
• Perform complex geotechnical analyses for shallow/deep foundations
• Develop calculations, reports and design memoranda
• Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
• Mentor entry-level staff and coordinate with design teams
