Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Principal Geo-environmental Consultant in Birmingham to shape ground risk strategy behind complex, high-value projects that influence planning, design and delivery. The role sits within the Ground Risk and Remediation team, leading delivery from desk studies to construction while engaging clients and regulators.

You will oversee budgets, support work winning, and mentor 2–3 technical staff, shaping project strategy and technical direction across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with a relevant professional body, or working towards chartered status.
• Substantial geo-environmental consultancy experience focusing on contaminated land and remediation.
• A degree in earth, environmental or engineering disciplines is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead geo-environmental projects from early studies through design and construction.
• Manage budgets and schedules while maintaining technical quality and safety.
• Engage clients and regulators, and support business development and proposals.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team growth.
• Provide clear outputs and defendable technical reports.
