Job summary

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer, Genset, to lead electrical design for gas engine-based power systems in data center and distributed energy applications.

You will drive specs, protect/controls architecture, and cross-system interfaces from requirements through commissioning. You will coordinate UL certification activities, ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA, and enable reliable grid interconnection and parallel operation of multiple units with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial power systems, including 6+ years with generator sets or genset-based power generation.
• Experience with generator sets, paralleling systems, and protection design.
• Ability to review SLDs, wiring diagrams, protection coordination schemes.
• Experience coordinating UL certification activities and related U.S. regulatory compliance requirements.
• Desirable: data center applications, IEEE 1547 knowledge, and UL certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering from requirement definition through quotation and detailed design for gas engine sets.
• Define electrical system architecture including generator, switchgear, protection, control panels, and auxiliary systems.
• Manage subsystem interfaces (engine, generator, controller, PMS, BESS) and ensure system integration and design consistency.
• Support FAT, commissioning (SAT), and troubleshooting including root cause analysis.
• Contribute to standardization of electrical design and modular configurations.
• Lead UL certification activities and translate UL, NEC, and NFPA requirements into engineering specifications and design requirements.
