Job summary

Arts-and-Culture in Albuquerque area seeks a Lead Groundskeeper to oversee planting, care and maintenance of plants and grounds, and to design, install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems for the grounds.

You will lead a team, plan tasks, install exhibits, and ensure safe, efficient operations while maintaining plant displays and equipment. This role requires horticultural expertise and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 30 credit hours in plant maintenance, botany, or horticulture.
• Three years experience in horticulture grounds maintenance and irrigation repair.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train and review the work of staff responsible for the maintenance and care of the plants.
• Plan, direct and participate in nursery and plant maintenance duties including weed abatement and plant care.
• Assist in design, setup and planting of new plants and exhibits; clean and maintain existing exhibits.
• Determine project and daily tasks and oversee gardening crew; ensure completion of tasks.
• Train assigned employees in their areas of work and procedures.
• Verify work for accuracy and adherence to standards and specifications.
• Design, install, maintain and repair the irrigation system for the grounds; repair pipes and sprinklers as needed.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment; operate equipment used in gardening and irrigation installation.
• Respond to public inquiries and provide information; resolve complaints promptly.
• Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
• Maintain plant collection field records.
