Job summary

New Mexico Highlands University seeks a Recreation Aide to support the Campus Life/Game Room program. You will supervise attendants, implement programs, and assist with intramurals and student events. Hours may include day shifts, nights, and weekends.

Ideal candidates are NMHU students with strong communication, leadership, and reliability. Knowledge of video games and equipment is a plus; CPR/First Aid is desirable. The role pays $13.00/hour for Fall/Spring terms.

Qualifications

• Education: NMHU student, sophomore to senior, enrolled with at least six credits.
• Preferred GPA 3.0 for applicants.
• Experience in college work is desirable.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Be on time and ready to work when scheduled.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating attendants.
• Maintain an updated inventory of games, systems, equipment, and supplies.
• Monitor the game room while on duty.
• Check out games, controllers, and other equipment to participants.
• Keep the game room neat and organized.
• Notify supervisor of equipment or repair needs.
• Submit timely requests for program marketing.
• Respond to emergencies according to training.
• Attend staff meetings for game room leadership.
• Conduct regular Game Room staff meetings.
• Keep accurate hours and submit timesheets.
• Assist with event logistics and post-event tasks.
• Understand emergency/evacuation procedures.
• Provide friendly customer service and program promotion.
• Attend officials training clinics.
• Advertise for student events.
• Other duties as assigned.
