Job summary

Innovate Commercial Interiors is seeking a Lead Furniture Installer to bring spaces to life through precise, efficient installations and on-site leadership. You will guide the installation crew, read furniture drawings and material lists, and ensure quality and safety across projects in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily activity, mentoring entry-level installers, and serving as the on-site representative with clients and contractors.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Project Leadership

• Lead and manage an installation crew.
• Read and interpret furniture drawings, specifications, installation instructions, and material lists.
• Lead installations of workstations, offices, conference rooms, storage systems, and ancillary furniture.
• Review site conditions and proactively resolve installation challenges.
• Coordinate daily crew activities and maintain accountability for schedules and quality.

Technical Expertise & Problem Solving

• Serve as the on-site technical expert for furniture installation methods and best practices.
• Perform advanced installations requiring carpentry and field-modification skills.
• Mount wall cabinets, markerboards, overhead storage, and accessories.
• Install and cut-in conference table power modules, data ports, and related accessories.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and adapt to changing field conditions.

Client Communication & Team Collaboration

• Serve as Innovate’s primary on-site representative.
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, project managers, and designers.
• Provide project status updates and communicate field conditions.
• Train and mentor entry-level installers.

Quality & Safety

• Adhere to all company safety protocols and best practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at job sites.
• Inspect installations to verify proper assembly, alignment, and stability.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 1. Minimum 8 years of commercial furniture installation experience.
2. 2. Experience leading installation crews.
3. 3. Strong understanding of furniture plans, specifications and materials lists.
4. 4. Experience with a wide range of furniture manufacturers preferred.
5. 5. Possess carpentry skills with proficiency in using power tools, dollies and dock equipment.
6. 6. Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items (100 lbs).
7. 7. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
8. 8. Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
9. 9. Willingness to work flexible hours and possible overtime.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. 1. Steel-toed boots and Innovate uniform (logo shirt and khaki pants) must be worn daily.
2. 2. Work is performed at various client locations including office buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities.
3. 3. Physical activity includes standing, bending, lifting, and moving furniture for extended periods.
