Job summary

Sawmills.ai in San Francisco is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help build our Telemetry Data Management Platform. You will design scalable backend systems that integrate with OpenTelemetry and craft intuitive frontend interfaces for data visualization and exploration.

You will lead full-stack development, mentor teammates, and help shape the technical roadmap, partnering with product and ops to ensure reliable, open-source–friendly solutions and robust observability capabilities.

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of full stack development experience.
• Experience with open-source technologies and OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with cloud services, microservices, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale backend and frontend of the Telemetry Data Management Platform, emphasizing OpenTelemetry compatibility.
• Architect systems to process large-scale machine data efficiently and create user-friendly data exploration interfaces.
• Contribute to strategic planning and technical roadmaps for backend and frontend.
• Collaborate with team to ensure features meet customer needs and are delivered across the full stack.
• Enhance integration with observability tools to ensure robust data ingestion, analysis, and visualization capabilities.
• Promote best practices in open-source software development and apply modern frontend development principles.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and reliability across the stack.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
• Stay abreast of new technologies in full-stack development and observability platforms.
