Job summary

Capital One Shopping – Categories team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own greenfield, scale-ready product spaces from inception to deployment. You’ll work with product managers to shape strategy and deliver high-impact features across the stack, with a focus on robust backend architecture and data pipelines.

You’ll mentor teammates, influence architectural decisions, and champion modern tech including TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL, Python, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience (internships excluded).
• 1+ year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 7+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and build 0→1 greenfield products from inception to deployment.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to define technical strategy and solutions.
• Deliver scalable microservices with strong backend architecture and data pipelines.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural design and code reviews.
• Work with containerization and cloud-native tools (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure).
