Job summary

Anza Mortgage Insurance Corporation is seeking a Lead Full-Stack Engineer for a hands-on, backend-first role. You will design domain services, APIs, and data models while guiding a small team from ambiguous requirements to production without a separate architect.

Expect about 60% coding in Java/Spring and React portals, 40% technical leadership and delivery accountability. You'll own domains, review PRs, block and unblock work, and drive quality through architecture decisions, ADRs, and design

Qualifications

• 2+ years as tech lead, team lead, or senior engineer with domain ownership.
• Strong Java (17/21) and Spring Boot experience with REST APIs.
• Excellent PostgreSQL schema, indexing, and migrations with Liquibase or Flyway.
• Experience designing REST APIs for stable clients and versioning.
• Solid distributed systems practice: asynchronous messaging (SQS/SNS, Kafka).
• Proficient in TypeScript and React for product screens.
• Ownership of testing and CI quality across domains.
• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code/design reviews.
• Cloud and container fluency: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes basics.
• Strong written communication for design docs and ADRs.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction across backend and portal domains, including data model and API contracts.
• Break epic work into slices, plan deliverables, and document design decisions (ADRs).
• Maintain quality via code reviews, pairing, and clear standards.
• Mentor engineers and delegate ownership for meaningful impact.
• Coordinate across teams for features spanning backend, portals, and infra.
• Deliver in your area and surface slippage with proactive recommendations.
• Design and build Spring Boot services exposed through the BFF tier.
• Model domain data in PostgreSQL and evolve schemas with safe migrations.
• Implement async flows using transactional outbox and messaging infra.
• Lead frontend work in React + TypeScript and own end-to-end tests.
