About the Role:

Pangea is seeking a Lead Frontend Software Engineer to help us unify our three frontend applications around React Native; scale and build out new features for our customers; and grow our frontend engineering team. We build and maintain new features that improve usability, prevent fraud, and create frontend experiences for iOS, Android, and Web that consume our backend services to launch new markets, payment methods, and capabilities. New features for our frontend applications are made primarily in React Native, while we continue to transition away from our legacy features built using Swift, Kotlin, and React, depending on the platform.

As a Lead Frontend Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain frontend features and architecture that consume the Pangea backend services
  • Lead the completion of our frontend refactor project, unifying our three user-facing applications around React Native
  • Establish and guide the frontend team to meeting best practices for frontend automated tests, from unit tests through to end-to-end tests
  • Contribute to maintenance of and, where possible, removal of platform-specific code for iOS, Android, and Web
  • Review code via pull requests, improve frontend engineering practices, and mentor other frontend engineers
  • Work with stakeholders from across the company to introduce new features for customers

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in frontend development, with a significant portion in React
  • 3+ years of professional experience in React Native
  • Demonstrable advocate of best practices for frontend engineering, including architecture, testing, and maintainability
  • Have a passion for writing software that is testable, easy to change, and meets the highest standards of quality
  • Experienced with using observability and monitoring tools to improve frontend performance and improve the user experience
  • A track record of mentoring other frontend developers from junior to senior
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders from Engineering to Product to other business units to identify new features to build and the best path to implement them
  • A zeal for continuous learning and development

Bonus Points if you have:

  • Experience in migrating existing native applications to React Native
  • Experience in iOS or Android native development

Compensation:

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is$116,000 to $160,000.Actual annual salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, and level assessed during the hiring process and may fall outside of the range shown. Additional compensation for this role may include a bonus and restricted stock units. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in Company benefits, described in more detailhere .
