Job summary

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) seeks a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to own the data analytics product lifecycle and ontology for data-driven applications across supply chain, engineering and manufacturing.

You will prototype, ship, and validate workflows with Palantir Foundry, partnering with forward deployed and product engineers to improve decision-making and operational performance in a hybrid cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing clear artifacts (flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes) to guide teams.
• 3+ years taxonomy and ontology development.
• 5+ years of experience conducting and analyzing user research.
• 5+ years’ experience with analytics tools including Tableau, SQL, R, and Python.
• 5+ years’ experience with Agile software development and familiarity with JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence.
• Experience working within a Scrum team or in similar Agile projects.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience working with aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the full design lifecycle of data products from concept to visual design.
• Develop a strategic product roadmap for data products supporting supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing.
• Build and iterate on an ontology to ground applications in a shared data model.
• Conduct user research via surveys, interviews, usability tests, and field visits.
• Pair qualitative research with quantitative metrics to validate decisions.
• Create wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to communicate design decisions.
• Establish and maintain a design system with typography, color palettes, and reusable components.
• Prototype and ship products hands-on with engineers, using Palantir Foundry when applicable.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and researchers to balance user needs with technical constraints.
• Define product requirements including data sources, data processing, and analytics capabilities; prioritize the backlog.
• Oversee all stages of product creation ensuring quality and performance.
• Write strong user stories linked to portfolio value.
• Define KPIs to measure impact and prepare leadership-level reports.
