Job Description

Be Part of Something Big from the Ground Up

Capozza Floor Covering Center is a third-generation family-owned company proudly rooted in Portland, Maine. We are expanding and you could be at the forefront of our next chapter.

We’re seeking a Floor Maintenance Lead to join our newly launched commercial floor care division, FloorLife Solutions.

This is more than just a job, it’s a chance to help build a team and launch our newest venture with the confidence of knowing you’re backed by over 50 years of Capozza’s trusted reputation, award-winning service, and commitment to craftsmanship.

We’re not only a staple in the Maine flooring industry, we’re also a Best Places to Work in Maine award recipient, and we’re serious about creating a culture that values leadership, integrity, and growth.

About The Role

As a Floor Maintenance Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our new division. You’ll lead crews on-site, ensuring each project is completed efficiently and up to the high standards our clients have come to expect. This position combines hands-on floor maintenance work with crew oversight, making it ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail oriented, and takes pride in delivering excellence.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

  • Ground Floor Entry: Join a division in its early stages and help define its future, as the division grows there will be plenty of opportunities for promotion and advancement.
  • Built on a Legacy: FloorLife Solutions is powered by the Capozza family of companies—a name synonymous with quality across Maine.
  • Support + Stability: While this is a new initiative, you’ll have full support of a seasoned and collaborative team that spans Commercial and Residential sectors with more than half a century of experience
  • Culture That Cares: Join a company that not only talks about values but lives them every day—with a focus on integrity, compassion, and team success.

If you're ready to take the next step in your career with a company that’s known for doing things the right way and want to help shape the future of floor maintenance in Maine—then we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the highest-trained member of the crew, completing necessary training before the launch of new technicians.
  • Work a modified schedule to include occasional night work as needed based on job requirements.
  • Be physically capable of performing all related tasks.
  • Lead and manage a small team, delegating responsibilities while working hands-on alongside technicians.
  • Ensure well-rounded expertise in surface maintenance (tile, carpet, resilient flooring) and demonstrate a commitment to the division's growth.
  • Execute tasks as scheduled and phased by the Operations Manager (OM), handling complex or high-risk duties and solving on-site issues with minimal OM intervention.
  • Communicate with on-site staff and relay relevant information or requests to the OM.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the OM, working closely with management and other team leaders to ensure crew performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in evaluating technician performance, identifying areas for professional growth, and recommending additional training or incentives when applicable.
  • Provide excellent customer service and act as the on-site coordinator in the absence of the OM, demonstrating professionalism and restraint in challenging situations.
  • Maintain crew performance records in collaboration with the OM, stepping in when necessary but not directly responsible for disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a safe, procedural, and morale-boosting work environment while maintaining an eye for detail and efficiency.
  • Prioritize workplace safety by possessing an OSHA 10-hour certification (training may be provided).
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained, working with the crew to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Hold a gas card (if applicable) and follow a daily vehicle checklist for loading/unloading, as well as a weekly condition checklist for vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and have reliable transportation to and from headquarters.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in janitorial or facilities flooring maintenance, with knowledge of relevant equipment and procedures.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles within the commercial construction, facilities, or maintenance industries a plus.
  • Proven ability to oversee and train small teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a focus on efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and oversee multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Highly organized, motivated self-starter with the ability to set and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as needed.

Benefits:

  • Paid holidays
