Archer is seeking an experienced Actuator Mechanical Development Manager in San Jose, CA to lead the design, integration, and validation of high-performance electromechanical actuators for flight-critical applications. You will drive concepts from requirements through flight-ready hardware on an aggressive schedule.

The role requires hands‑on technical leadership with a strong background in mechanism design, high-reliability mechanical systems, and aerospace qualification processes.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of experience in actuated mechanism or electromechanical system design.
• Strong communication and presentation skills at any level within the organization.
• Proven ownership of complex engineering problems through to completion.
• Experience with GD&T for mechanical systems and kinematic analysis.
• Experience with DO-160 or actuator testing is a plus.

Mansioni

• Lead a team of design and mechanical engineers to develop flight-critical actuation systems from concept to production.
• Own actuator mechanical design and integration of motors, geartrains, bearings, sensors, and electronics.
• Perform trade studies to optimize architecture, mass, and performance while ensuring fault tolerance.
• Create and review CAD models, drawings, and specifications; develop system and component requirements.
• Build and maintain system-level models to validate actuator performance.
• Lead cross-functional teams and participate in design reviews and key decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with systems, safety, and reliability teams.
