Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Lead Technician in Sacramento, CA, to manage a shop team and ensure timely maintenance of Class 7 and 8 diesel equipment and trailing gear.

You will supervise technicians, coordinate parts and training, and drive safety and reliability across the fleet. The role requires professional mechanical experience, a valid driver's license, and certifications in vehicle and brake inspections, with potential EPA refrigerant certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• 4 years of related work experience or military experience
• A valid driver’s license
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25
• Vehicle inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19
• EPA HVAC refrigerant recovery certification within 90 days of hire
• Prior mechanical experience in automotive or skilled trades
• Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise shop personnel
• Order parts and manage vendors
• Ensure technicians receive required training
• Perform routine maintenance on class 7 and 8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment
• Inspect and perform work on equipment and trailers as needed
• Follow DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority and OSHA rules and lead the team to do the same
• Repair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systems
• Move trailers throughout the property
• Operate a hostler in all weather and conditions
