Job summary

Summit School Services in Warrenville, IL is seeking a Lead Fleet Technician to set the tone for safety, quality, and uptime. You’ll handle advanced diagnostics and repairs on medium/heavy vehicles and guide technicians through preventive maintenance cycles so routes leave safe and on time.

You’ll partner with your Maintenance Leader to plan work, verify quality, and keep the shop running smoothly. Five years of fleet mechanic experience with leadership exposure, plus CDL preferred and ASE

Qualifications

Five years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience with at least one year in a leadership role.
Proficient with diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and A/C issues.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems to ensure safety and uptime.
Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives to verify quality repairs.
Complete required safety inspections and sign-offs before releasing vehicles.
Log labor hours and parts in the maintenance system.
Oversee day-to-day workflow and mentor technicians.
Respond to road calls and mobile repairs as needed.
