Job summary

Pafford EMS in Mississippi is seeking an experienced fleet mechanic to support daily shop operations and oversee maintenance of diesel and gasoline vehicles. This role provides technical guidance, mentors junior mechanics, and ensures repairs meet safety and quality standards.

The position involves diagnosing a wide range of vehicle systems, coordinating with leadership, and maintaining accurate maintenance records in a fast-paced EMS fleet environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four (4) years verifiable experience as an automotive, diesel, or fleet mechanic.
• Prior experience with emergency vehicles, ambulances, or commercial fleet maintenance preferred.
• Must have a current and valid driver's license.
• Must have a complete set of personal tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, repair documents, and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mechanic Director with daily shop priorities and workflow coordination.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and assistance to mechanics regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance procedures.
• Review completed repairs to ensure work is safe, accurate, and meets company standards.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and road calls as needed.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, brake, suspension, drivetrain, and related issues.
• Assist with complex repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
• Maintain fleet maintenance procedures and documentation accurately.
