Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), seeks a Mechanic Supervisor to lead a team of skilled mechanics responsible for maintaining a broad fleet of construction equipment and hand tools. The role emphasizes supervising repairs, inspections, and maintenance to improve safety and reliability across district operations.

You will oversee task assignment, training needs, and ensure a safe work environment with proper tools and supplies.

Qualifications

Four years of journey-level mechanical experience in diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment.
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Active Pennsylvania Class A CDL with the Air Brake restriction (L) removed and Manual restriction (E) removed.
Active Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.
One year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
Preferred: Active CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate.
Veterans' preference as described by Pennsylvania law.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of mechanics; assign tasks and evaluate performance.
Guide troubleshooting and oversee repairs on engines, electrical systems, and transmissions.
Monitor vehicle inspections and ensure compliance with standards.
Maintain a safe shop environment and ensure tools and supplies are available.
Review work orders, parts usage, and time charges for accuracy.
Assist mechanics in diagnosing difficult equipment issues.
