Job summary

City of Vermillion, SD seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to join its Fire/EMS division. Under supervision, you will maintain readiness of station, apparatus, and equipment, respond to medical emergencies, and provide prehospital Advanced Life Support.

You will lead, train, and mentor crew, perform firefighting, rescue, and hazmat duties, participate in drills, public education, and ensure safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current EMT credential and be a certified Paramedic.
• Maintain BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Valid South Dakota driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergencies and provide prehospital ALS care.
• Drive and operate emergency apparatus as assigned.
• Complete written Fire/EMS reports and relay patient information to hospital staff.
• Mentor and train crewmembers in Fire & EMS operations.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and supplies; ensure readiness of apparatus.
