Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned Facility Design Fire Protection Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering team in Merritt Island, FL. You will lead fire protection design for new and existing facilities, ensuring life safety and code compliance in support of Blue Origin's spaceflight mission.

You will perform FHA, egress analyses, hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, and coordinate with architects and engineers to integrate protection systems into facility designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Active PE license in at least one state.
• 12+ years of progressive fire protection engineering design experience.
• Experience designing fire protection systems for industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, or aerospace facilities.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software and NFPA codes/standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design for new and existing facilities.
• Perform fire protection analyses including FHA, egress, hydraulics, smoke control and detection.
• Develop construction documents for fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC/IFC and AHJ requirements.
• Coordinate with architects and other engineers to integrate fire protection systems.
• Interface with AHJs, insurers, and third-party reviewers during design reviews.
• Conduct site assessments and remediation planning.
• Support development of facility fire protection standards and policies.
• Review submittals and assist during construction.
