Base pay range

$130,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

LOCATION - This is a remote position and can be based from any location within the United States.

About The Job

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer to be the technical expertise in engineering designs of all types and Tepa’s recognized senior Fire Protection expert. This role works on multiple projects, maintains project schedules, and completes work safely and in accordance with approved work planning documents.

Job Functions:

  • Provides technical leadership to a diverse team ranging from junior to senior level staff, including monitoring, mentoring, and leading the growth of team members
  • Responsible for supervision and technical direction of Fire Protection employees
  • Provides oversight on project execution, ensuring quality excellence, and setting appropriate Fire Protection goals and objectives
  • Assists in the development of project plans and staffing strategies, ensuring alignment with approved business plans
  • Instrumental in maintaining long-term relationships with key clients by providing technical expertise, attending client meetings, and leading project development pursuits.
  • Represents Tepa with mechanical expertise at technical events such as conferences and technical meetings.
  • Assists project managers and engineers with technical issues, scheduling, and cost control measures,
  • Works with technical staff, proposal management, and business development staff to support proposal development.
  • Works with the Engineering Business Development Manager to analyze Scopes of Work (SOWs), produce hours and levels of effort, and write technical efforts related to Fire Protection scope as part of proposals.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with subcontractors, teaming partners, and clients.
  • Provides resource allocation for the Fire Protection team, Peer Review and QAQC, and sets the standards for the Fire Protection Engineering Discipline at Tepa.
  • Ensures Tepa Core Values are being practiced by all Tepa staff.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering, or similar from Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology accredited college or university
  • 10+ year of relevant experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Fire Protection, with NCEES Registration and ability to be licensed in any state in the US
  • Specialized computer skills including AutoCAD and Revit
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations and requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Education and Experience (not required):

  • Master’s degree in fire protection engineering
  • Prior federal and DoD experience
