Job summary

State of Oklahoma seeks a State Fire Marshal Law Enf Agt to perform inspections, investigations, and educational work in fire prevention and arson investigation as an agent of the Office.

Typical duties include handling arson investigations, collecting evidence, and presenting findings in court. The role requires CLEET certification, travel readiness, and compliance with safety and training requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in fire investigation and/or fire prevention plus three additional years in the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office; or two years in criminal investigations plus three additional years in the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
• Education options include 30 college semester hours with 6 hours in fire protection and prevention per year of required experience plus three more years in the Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations of arson and related violations, prepare reports, assist prosecutors, and draft warrants and citations.
• Process fire, explosion, and crime scenes; collect evidence and arrange tests.
• Inspect buildings and premises for code compliance and life safety considerations.
• Investigate storage of explosives and fireworks; enforce fireworks laws.
• Provide fire safety education and public outreach; present classes on fire prevention and investigation.
