Job summary

Total Fire Protection seeks a lead technician to manage commercial fire alarm installation, service, programming, commissioning and testing from startup to acceptance across the Greater Philadelphia, South Jersey and surrounding markets. You will work with fire alarm panels, initiating devices, power supplies, and other life-safety interfaces, reading drawings, and coordinating with electricians and AHJs.

Strong NFPA 72 knowledge and NICET credentials are preferred to mentor technicians and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial fire alarm experience.
• Strong installation, service and troubleshooting ability.
• Fire alarm programming and commissioning experience.
• Strong understanding of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes.
• Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Experience working independently and leading other technicians.
• Professional customer and AHJ communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• NICET Level II or higher preferred.
• NICET Level III a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Run fire alarm projects from startup through acceptance testing.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and sequence-of-operations documents.
• Troubleshoot SLC, NAC, power, communication and ground-fault conditions.
• Program and commission fire alarm systems.
• Coordinate work with electricians, sprinkler technicians, GCs and other trades.
• Conduct acceptance testing with AHJs.
• Document field conditions and deficiencies.
• Train and mentor developing technicians.
• Help establish Total Fire Protection's field standards and best practices.

Job description

We're looking for a technician who takes pride in the trade—someone who can troubleshoot a difficult system, run a project, work professionally with customers and AHJs, and help develop the technicians working alongside them.

The lead technician will perform and lead commercial fire alarm installation, service, programming, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting throughout the Greater Philadelphia, South Jersey and surrounding markets.

The lead technician will also work with fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, sprinkler interfaces, fire pumps, elevator recall, HVAC shutdown, door release and other life-safety system interfaces.

Responsibilities:

• Run fire alarm projects from startup through acceptance testing


• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and sequence-of-operations documents


• Troubleshoot SLC, NAC, power, communication and ground-fault conditions

• Strong fire alarm fundamentals, troubleshooting ability and the willingness to learn

Pay: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour

Hours: No less than 40.0 per week
