The Lead Financial Systems Developer is responsible for supporting and enhancing Workday Financials across integrations, reporting, configuration, and core financial processes. This role serves as a key partner to Accounting and Finance, ensuring the integrity, scalability, and efficiency of financial data and systems. Role is responsible for supporting Workday Financials configuration, including General Ledger (GL), Financial Data Model (FDM), Accounting Center, and business process frameworks. The role ensures that system design aligns with accounting requirements, internal controls, and reporting needs. The role also includes hands‑on building and supporting integrations in and out of Workday with internal and external systems that are related to accounting and financial operations. The job Includes helping to identify opportunities for automation, gathering business requirements, documenting the technical requirements, developing the integration solutions, unit testing the solution, working with end users on UAT, and monitoring and taking action to enhance or fix issues over time. This role involves collaborating with end users in Accounting, internal IT teams, and third‑party technical teams. The position resides within Accounting as part of a small financial systems administration team. The position plays a key role in delivering scalable, high‑quality integration solutions using Workday tools (Studio, EIB, Orchestrate, and Accounting Center) and APIs (REST/SOAP). Responsibilities include capturing business requirements into technical designs, developing and unit testing solutions, partnering with Accounting and Finance teams during UAT, and proactively monitoring and optimizing integrations in production.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Integrations design and development for Workday integrations. Requirement gathering and solution architecture. Testing, both unit testing and collaborating with Accounting on User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Provide technical guidance on integration solutions and best practices. Develop and maintain data mappings, transformation logic, and integration documentation. Stay current with Workday releases, integration/development technologies, and best practices. Production support and monitoring integration jobs to proactively identify and resolve issues. Drive continuous improvement in integrations and process automation. Support governance, compliance & documentation related to custom built solutions (e.g., SOX). Communicate status, risks, and technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Create custom calculations and advance reports as a service to support integrations. Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance or related fields. 7+ years of Workday experience with a strong focus on developing and enhancing integrations. Proven experience building Workday Studio integrations, EIB integrations, and Accounting Center Integrations. The ideal candidate will have worked in or supported corporate accounting operations.
Experience building integrations with Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Orchestrate, and Accounting Center are a must. Experience with scripting languages such as XSLT, XML, and JavaScript used in integrations. Experience with Web integration tools using REST, RASS, and SOAP web services. Experience with Workday Report Writer to build Matrix, Advance and Composite Reports. Experience with Workday Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and Report Designer. Self‑sufficient to research, technical documentation, and solicit additional support in the Workday Community and Developer Forum. Strong understanding of Workday’s security configuration and access controls. Experience in configuring and managing Workday’s Business Process framework. Experience with Workday Customer Central to migrate configuration between tenants Experience with various AI tools (CoPilot, Claude, SONOS, etc.). scripting and coding Strong verbal communication skills; strong writing and composition abilities. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective and professional relationships across the organization and with customers. Strong influencing and negotiation skills; consultative and collaborative work style. High learning agility with the ability to learn and integrate business variables and learn new systems and platforms. Strong analytical skills & problem‑solving abilities; solid decision‑making abilities coupled with sound judgment. Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Strong project management and time management capability. Self‑directed and comfortable working with ambiguity and uncertainty. High degree of professional maturity, integrity, ability to maintain confidential data and information. High degree of business acumen; strong technical aptitude. Strong Microsoft Office skills
Working on‑site at assigned office location. Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership. Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand. Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations. Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time. Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls. Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
