Job summary

Department of Transportation in North Carolina seeks an Accountant III (NS) to lead annual interagency settlements, manage receivables and payables with toll agencies, and ensure accuracy across the BOS and SAP General Ledger.

The role partners with accounting and NCTA staff to implement processes, test new payments, and support financial reporting for operating revenues and cash management. A bachelor’s in accounting and 4 years of professional experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline; 18 accounting coursework hours; four years of professional accounting/auditing experience.
• Experience reconciling General Ledger accounts and preparing journal entries; research and explain variances.
• Ability to update procedures and documentation with knowledge of internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and General Ledger systems (e.g., SAP).

Responsibilities

• Lead finance settlement processes and ensure compliance with partnership agreements.
• Manage monthly interagency settlements and receivables/payables with toll agencies.
• Learn and apply the Back Office System (BOS) integrity and SAP GL integrations.
• Coordinate with Accounting Manager and NCTA staff to implement/refine business functions and reporting.
• Act as technical lead for end-to-end testing of new payment methodologies and toll processes.
