Job summary

NHS Highland is seeking an Assistant Financial Services Accountant for Expenditure on a 2-year fixed term contract or secondment to 31/08/2028, based in Inverness. The role supports Accounts Payable, Patient Travel, Systems and Primary Care teams, ensuring compliance with Standing Financial Instructions.

You will ensure reconciliation of control accounts, contribute to the annual accounts, and mentor a large finance team, requiring CCAB qualification and several years in a senior finance role.

Qualifications

• CCAB qualified accountant with one year post-qualification experience managing a finance team.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a large Finance Department at a senior level.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, written and oral.
• Experience with NHS Highland accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Accounts Payable, Patient Travel, Systems and Primary Care Teams within Financial Services.
• Manage and motivate a large finance team and ensure deadlines are met.
• Reconcile control accounts and maintain ledger integrity.
• Assist in preparation and completion of annual accounts and returns.
