Latham & Watkins LLP seeks a Lead – Finance & Accounting Services for the U.S. team, based in New York. The role supports U.S. practice offices and Global Finance with accounting expertise, budgeting, expense management, and non-billing activities, enabling efficient operations across offices.

The role emphasizes strong accounting foundation, analytical skills, and experience in budgeting and financial systems, with a potential hybrid schedule combining in-office and remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
• CPA, CPA candidate, or other relevant professional certification preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, audit, financial operations, or related professional services
• Minimum of five (5) years of cumulative experience
• Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, reconciliations, accounts payable, expense management, reporting, process documentation, or financial systems preferred
• Experience participating in process improvement, system implementation, data analysis, automation, workflow, or reporting initiatives preferred

Responsibilities

• Apply solid accounting principles, financial controls, and firm policies to review transactions, research issues, prepare analyses, and resolve office and Global Services Office requests
• Assist with annual budget processes, including inputs, expense review, variance analysis, and follow-up with local contacts
• Review and document finance and accounting processes to identify root causes, control gaps, and training needs
• Participate in automation and technology initiatives (SharePoint and Power Platform), including requirements, testing, validation, and post-implementation support
• Use Excel and financial systems to analyze data, identify trends, and prepare summaries for management and stakeholders
